A picture book where your pet is the hero

Tell us about your cat or dog and your child. We'll write an original story about them and illustrate it so your pet looks like your pet.

A PDF to read on screen or print at home.

Your pet, drawn from your photos

Laka is a real tortoiseshell cat. Her book was illustrated from this one photo and a short description of her. Here is how she looks in "Laka and the Long Green Thing": the same black and ginger coat and the same yellow-green eyes.

Illustration: Laka, drawn as a black and ginger cat with yellow eyes, crouches in the garden and watches a gecko on the wall.
Laka crouched by the hedge. Her tail twitched.
Illustration: Laka sits on a sunny veranda and licks her paw while the gecko hangs from the ceiling.
She licked one paw, very slowly, as if she had only jumped to stretch.
Illustration: Laka creeps low under a bush with big red flowers, eyes wide.
Laka crept. Low. Lower.

Look inside a sample book

"Tim and the Paper Thief" is about an old Labrador, a tiny kitten and a crow. We made it for a family we invented, so we can show it without anyone's real photos. Your book is written from your answers about your own pet and child.

Tim the Labrador asleep on a tartan blanket by the fire, with the kitten Marta curled up on his back.
Every morning, Tim fetched the newspaper. Nobody in the house had ordered a newspaper for years.
The kitten clings to a pine trunk while Tim looks up at her and a crow holds the newspaper in the branches.
Marta shot up the trunk. Halfway up, she stopped. She looked down. She looked up. She held on with every claw.
On the dune, the crow stands on Tim's tartan blanket next to Tim and the kitten, while the boy Lev watches.
The crow came down. She pulled out a beakful of yellow fur. Then another. Then another.
The next morning on the porch: Tim holds the newspaper and nods to the crow on the gatepost, while Lev holds a shell.
Everything in its place. Well, nearly.

How it works

  1. Tell us about your pet and your child

A short questionnaire: names, what they look like, your pet's habits and personality, and 2-3 photos of your pet. The required part takes about 5 minutes.

  2. Choose a story

Pick a theme and a mood: a secret life, an adventure, a mystery, a funny day, a cosy bedtime story and more. You decide how magical it can be.

  3. We write and illustrate it

The story is built around the real details you share, and every picture keeps your pet's colours and markings.

  4. You get your book as a PDF

Read it together on a screen or print it at home.

Questions

How is the book made?

We write the story and draw the illustrations with the help of AI, working from your answers and your pet's photos. A person from our team reads every book before we send it to you.

What ages is it for?

Children from about 1 to 12. We adjust the length and the words to your child's age, and to whether an adult reads it aloud or the child reads it alone.

Can the story include more than one pet or child?

Yes. In the questionnaire you can tell us about other pets and a second child who should be an equal hero of the story.

Do I need to send a photo of my child?

No. A short description is enough. If you add a photo, we use it only to describe your child's appearance: the photo itself is never given to the AI that draws the pictures. In the book your child is drawn, not photographed.

Is it a printed book?

Not yet. For now we make PDF books that you can read on a screen or print at home.

When do I pay?

Nothing is charged on this site. If you order a book, we'll email you to confirm the order and explain how to pay before we start making it.

Who are you?

Pet Tales is a small new project. We are testing it with our first families now, and your feedback helps us decide what to build next.
