Privacy notice
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Pet Tales makes personalised picture books about pets and children. This notice explains what we collect on this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are and how to reach us
Pet Tales is a small project that is currently testing its books with the first families. You can write to us at [email protected].
What we collect on this website
- What you enter in the request form: your email, your country, the kind of pet (if you tell us) and whether you'd like news from us.
- How you found us: the link you arrived from, including advertising tags (for example utm_source or an ad click ID) and the referring website.
- Technical details: your browser type and the country your connection comes from. We do not store your IP address.
We do not use cookies. To remember which link you arrived from until you send the form, the site keeps that link in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab.
The questionnaire
To make your book, we ask about your pet and your child on this website: names, age, appearance, habits, family details and photos of your pet. Photos of your child and of places at home are optional. Please don't include surnames or your address.
Your questionnaire has its own private link. Anyone who has that link can open it, so please don't share it. Your answers are saved as you go, and once you send them they can no longer be changed through the link.
When you upload a photo, our server makes a new copy of it and removes the hidden data that phones and cameras add, such as the location where it was taken.
Why we use your information
- To make your book and send it to you, and to contact you about your request or order.
- For a free book: to send you a short feedback survey.
- To understand which of our adverts and pages work, so that we spend less on the ones that don't.
- To send you news about Pet Tales, only if you ticked the box. You can ask us to stop at any time.
If you are in the UK or the EU: we use your information to take the steps you ask for (making your book), on the basis of our legitimate interest in measuring our adverts, and with your consent for news.
Who else sees it
- Our hosting provider (Hetzner, servers in Germany) stores the website, your request, your answers and your photos.
- Cloudflare delivers the website to your browser, protects it from attacks and forwards the emails you send to our address to our team.
- To write and illustrate the story we use AI services. We send them only the details needed for the story and the photos of your pet and of places you chose. We never send them your email.
- Photos of your child are never given to the AI that draws the pictures. We use them only to write a short description of your child's appearance, sometimes with the help of an AI assistant.
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
We delete all photos within 30 days after we send your book. We keep your request and questionnaire answers for up to 12 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
Deleted information can stay in our backup copies for up to 30 days, after which the copies are replaced.
Children
This website is for parents and other adults. The information about a child is given to us by their parent or guardian, only to make the book.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, and withdraw your consent to news at any time. Just write to us. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to your data protection authority, for example the ICO in the UK or the OAIC in Australia.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
